The expansion and remodelling of a mid terraced private residence providing an additional bedroom, bathroom, storage space, and new interior throughout.

What did Studio Mode do then?

Our clients appointed us to review their existing property and offer proposals as to how additional living and storage space could be achieved. We proposed a loft conversion thus converting the house into a pleasant three storey arrangement which offered a large private master bedroom with en suite on the upper floor. The redesign of the staircase allowed us to provide a number of storage solutions throughout. Once the general arrangement drawings were complete we worked closely with the client's contractor in developing a detailed design and monitoring the project throughout its eight weeks on site.

Any tricky bits?

Designing and building projects within occupied private dwellings requires considerable attention to detail particularly in the phasing. Keeping the level of disruption to a minimum wherever possible is a must. Our design required the removal of a considerable amount of roof structure in order to achieve a large area of glazing to the master bedroom.

Any good then?

Our client certainly thinks so. The expenditure on the scheme was exactly half the cost of moving to a property of the same size and accommodation. In addition to this, they now reside in a light and airy highly individual property.
